Tool & Die Maker - New Tool Dept.
Job Description
Our client is an international metal precision manufacturer that focuses on metal springs, progressive stampings, machined components, and assembly work for almost 80 years, and has over 400 employees! They have been supporting various industries including medical, defense, aerospace, and other government industries. They make a wide variety of parts for a large number of customers! They are currently seeking a Tool & Diemaker for the Auto Power Press Department on 1st and 2nd Shift.

- Set-up & maintenance of new tooling including but not limited to first piece quality submission.
- Alert Supervisor when there is a conflict in scheduling –machine maintenance –tool maintenance on tooling projects.
- Assist in the standardization of tooling component inventory.
- Meet quoted tool / fixture / gage build cost.
- Assist as requested in the development of project / tool estimates (quotes).
- Assist CSS Managers as requested on all metal stamping and four slides programs.
- Alert Supervisor on updates & corrections needed on job travelers for operation changes / additions.
- Maintains adherence to company policies, environmental and safety standards, and good housekeeping standards.
- Observes company processes and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Minimum 5 years experience in the Set-up –Trouble shooting and Production of Progressive / / Compound & Secondary tooling.
- Ability to read - understand blue prints as needed for production manufacturing.
- Working knowledge and practical experience with the use of statistical process control in production environments.
- Working knowledge of ISO quality standards and practical experience with the use of statistical process control in a production environment.
- An understanding of Manufacturing Engineering - Quality Engineering
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing (i.E. Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, 5S, etc.).
- Familiar with principles of concurrent engineering and design for manufacturing and assembly
- Visual ability (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
- Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending
- Ability to lift objects from lower to a higher position or moving horizontally from position-to-position.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted
