Position Summary: 
 
Payroll Team Lead is responsible for accurately entering client Payroll and related Payroll information, Accounting Transactions (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, etc). Payroll Team Lead ensures that data submitted by clients reconciles to data keyed by review and comparing control totals.  
 
Payroll Team Lead may be required to assist other team members and / or contact clients by telephone to reconcile discrepancies between control totals provided and information entered or to ask for additional information as may be required from time to time. 
 
The Payroll Team Lead is responsible to provide support to the Manager of Payroll & Tax.   This includes the supervision and training of the Payroll and Distribution personnel, development and maintenance of SSAE Internal Controls and audit, tax notice and filing research, working with tax services and assisting with quarter end and year end balancing and filings. 
 
 
Essential Duties: 
 
As Payroll Team Lead you will be responsible for: 
 
Accurately enter client payroll data on a timely basis  
Accurately enter client accounting data on a timely basis  
Verifying the accuracy of keyed information to source documents & Control Totals
Call clients to resolve differences
Uses effective problem-solving skills to resolve data discrepancy issues
Maintains a team orientation in dealing with fellow associates
Provides quality service 
Submits and balances daily ACH and/or tax files
Submits and balances daily Positive Pay file
Learn and trouble shoot all time and attendance systems  
Develops, implements and maintains accurate documentation of all Payroll processes  
Provides excellent internal and external customer service
Supports client satisfaction, production and retention goals of the department
Assists in problem-solving in regard to client issues
Facilitates cross functional training
Processes payroll and verifies payrolls  
Ability to recognize when an issue must be escalated or referred to another area for resolution
Develop and maintain SSAE Internal Controls and Audit
Research, develop and implement efficiencies within the software applications used in the company
Assess, on an ongoing basis, the quality of services delivered and ensure tasks are completed and delivered within the scope and timelines agreed
Responsible for tax filing research, contact with local, state and federal tax authorities, coordinate activities between tax filing services employed by the company, changes to existing accounts, and responding to tax related issues for the company' s clients.
Assist with the Managing of year-end processes, filing, printing, upload and mailing of forms w2 and 1099
Assists with recruitment of staff, performance reviews and disciplinary activities. Provides support and training to team members and provides first level leadership support.

Education / Training / Certifications: 
 
Previous Training, Certifications, and Education in Payroll or Accounting related curriculum is a plus.  
 
Decision Making: 
 
Payroll Team Lead is expected to accurately convert or enter Client Payroll & Accounting Information, and other related matters that are within the area of responsibilities and are consistent with the prevailing Department and Company policies. Payroll Team Lead is expected to assist the Manager of Payroll and Tax in making day to day decisions regarding Payroll scheduling, processing, training, solving Payroll problems and other related matters that are within the area of responsibilities and are consistent with the prevailing Department and Company policies. 
 
 
Financial Responsibilities: 
 
Transmitting & Balancing ACH, Positive Pay and Tax files 

 
 
Communication: 
 
Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills required. Must be able to work under time constraints and meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines. 
 
Supervisory Responsibilities: 
 
Assists in Supervising all personnel and activities within the Payroll Department. 
 
Additional Eligibility Qualifications - Internet, MS Office Suite (Power point, Word, Excel, Outlook) - Experience with HCM, TLM systems, and onboarding technology preferred. - Individual must be detail oriented, highly organized, and have excellent customer service skills and the ability to multi-task under time constraints.

Associate Degree or higher in accounting would be an asset 
 
 
Working Conditions: 
 
The scheduled workweek is a 5-day workweek - hours are 9: 00 AM to 5: 30 PM Monday through Friday.   Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.   Client visits/Travel Required-approximately 20%
