Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer –Powder Coating

High-Impact, Hands-On Role

If you’ve worked in powder coating, you know this is where quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction are won or lost.

We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to take full ownership of our powder coating operation—someone who can optimize processes, solve problems on the floor, and elevate team performance.

This is not a desk job. You’ll be a go-to leader in the plant, driving real improvements in throughput, quality, and consistency.
What You’ll Own
Lead the Powder Coating Operation

  • Serve as the primary engineering resource for the powder paint area

  • Own process performance, quality results, and daily output

  • Partner with supervisors and operators to hit production goals

Drive Measurable Improvement

  • Increase throughput and first-pass yield

  • Reduce scrap, rework, and material waste

  • Improve labor efficiency and line performance

  • Establish and track key process metrics

Solve Problems That Matter

  • Lead root cause analysis on defects (adhesion, coverage, contamination, cure issues)

  • Implement permanent corrective actions—not temporary fixes

  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues in real time on the floor

Own the Technical Side

  • Optimize powder application systems, ovens, and cure profiles

  • Improve pretreatment and surface preparation processes

  • Evaluate equipment, materials, and line flow for upgrades and efficiency gains

  • Stay current on industry best practices and new technologies

Build Team Capability

  • Train and coach operators on proper techniques, equipment use, and quality standards

  • Develop standard work, process documentation, and training materials

  • Reinforce accountability and a continuous improvement mindset

Partner Across the Plant

  • Work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality to drive performance

  • Support audits, ISO compliance, and defect reduction initiatives

  • Act as the bridge between engineering and day-to-day operations

Execute with Discipline (EOS Environment)

  • Contribute to L10 meetings and drive progress on key priorities (“Rocks”)

  • Use scorecards, metrics, and structured problem-solving (IDS) to ensure execution
What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience

  • 3–7+ years in manufacturing, with direct powder coating or finishing experience

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Surface prep / pretreatment

    • Powder application techniques

    • Cure processes and oven optimization

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot defects and improve process performance

  • Experience driving Lean / continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ability to work on the floor, lead people, and influence change

Nice to Have

  • Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt a plus)

  • Experience in an EOS or metrics-driven environment
Why This Role Stands Out as a Manufacturing Engineer

  • Full process ownership —you control and improve the entire powder coating operation

  • Visible impact —your work directly affects product quality and customer satisfaction

  • Hands-on leadership —real engineering, not just meetings and reports

  • Opportunity to build and improve —not maintain the status quo
Our Core Values
We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is eager to learn

  • Delivers above and beyond

  • Wins as a team

  • Focuses on solutions

  • Embraces change

  • Gets it. Wants it. Has the capacity to do it.
 Work Environment

  • Combination of production floor and office time (majority on the floor)

  • Fast-paced, results-driven manufacturing environment

  • Exposure to coating lines, ovens, and industrial equipment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay actively engaged in operations
Apply if you take pride in getting finishes right—and know how to fix them when they’re not. #IND-HP
